Residents of Eastrea Road in Whittlesey have been receiving letters detailing the long-delayed resurfacing work, between Cemetery Road roundabout Dandelion Road roundabout.

This section of road has been in a terrible state for a long, long time and several vehicles have reported damage to wheels and tyres due to the potholes along there. So bad were some of them that just last week – only two weeks before the resurfacing works were planned to start! – CCC Highways went out to patch the worst of them.

The closures will take place from Monday 14th April to Friday 9th May (four weeks). The A605 will be closed at night only, from 8pm to 6am.

Residents requiring night-time access to their properties within the road works area will be allowed access from one end or the other during the works, but not always from the direction of their choosing and there may be slight delays depending on the particular work being undertaken at the time. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through-access at all times.

There will inevitably be some noisy work, especially when ‘planing’ to remove the current road surface, but this type of work will be done at the start of the evening closure, to minimise disruption through the night, but noise of heavy vehicles moving around the works all through the night is inevitable. An unfortunate, but necessary, downside to the essential maintenance.

If you have any queries, you can contact James Chapman, the project manager, using the details in the letter pictured here.
