Nominations for the 1st May election to Cambridgeshire County Council for the Whittlesey South Electoral Division have been announced today!

Most important in that list of candidates is… ME!
When I joined Whittlesey Town Council in 2023, it was always my intention to stand for Fenland District Council at the next election in 2027. It now looks likely that that election will not happen and that FDC will be disbanded in 2018 under the government’s ‘Devolution’ plans as recently announced in their white paper on the topic.
For this reason, I have decided to stand now for Cambridgeshire County Council as the next step in my desire to effect proper change and improvement for the people of this area.
In the 2021 an alliance of Liberal Democrats and Independent councillors wrested control of the council from the Conservatives and have controlled the council since then. This balance has corrected many of the failings of the previous council, where control lay in the hands of a single party–the Conservatives–to the detriment of good governance.
I am hoping to join what most political followers expect to be a stronger council with a greater mix of political parties and independents–a coalition that need to work together, rather than be at the mercy of a single party wielding total control.
I hope I can rely on your votes!
